If you want to compare more options to make your choice, there are other very good hotels in Tepoztlán for all budgets:
- Ekko Hostel: The best option for cheap accommodation in Tepoztlán. Small house a bit off downtown, with cafes, restaurants and supermarket nearby. Hot water, garden with hammocks, quite bohemian and very relaxed. From only 19usd per night in a shared dormitory
- Hotel Teocalli: For a little more comfort, this is a very good value for money hotel with swimming pool in a quiet area near downtown. Restaurant open all day, massages, yoga at the end of the week. Breakfast included, from only 82usd per night!
- Boutique Hotel Casa Fernanda: This is one of my favorites in Tepoztlán! Nice hotel within walking distance of the main square, good restaurant, pool with garden, spacious room, and a really fabulous spa. Breakfast included, from 163usd per night!
- Amomoxtli: This 5* hotel is the most beautiful and luxurious in Tepoztlán: ideal for a romantic stay! A true oasis of tranquility, with swimming pool, spa, yoga, restaurant, bar, library and excellent service, from 305usd per night!
My experience at Hotel Valle Místico
I was looking for a pet friendly hotel for my weekend in Tepoztlan and I found Hotel Valle Mistico.
I love my dog, but traveling with her can be challenging because it’s not easy to find a pet friendly hotel that also offers comfort.
So I stayed for 3 days and 2 nights in this peaceful hotel where the guests come to unwind away from the city, and I had a wonderful time!

The room
Our room was on the second floor of a large adobe hut that blended with the landscape.
It had a very comfortable double bed, high ceilings, a small bathroom with bathtub, and a closet.
It also had a small kitchenette (with mini fridge and stove). That was convenient! If we had known before we got there, we would have brought some food so we wouldn’t have to eat at the hotel restaurant all the time.
But there was no crockery, cutlery or glasses in the kitchen, so be prepared if you want to use it.
The rooms are spread around the large garden for some privacy and each one has its own charm, but I recommend you choose “Casa Agua” for the spacious balcony with hammock and the view of the mountains. It was stunning.
There was also a table with chairs, a 2-seater sofa on the balcony and even a fireplace.
The pool and jacuzzi
The swimming pool and a jacuzzi are at the back of the garden (you need to book the jacuzzi in advance, for hygiene reasons).
I loved how the lounge chairs were set among the trees and plants for more privacy.
Spa and temazcal
Valle Místico is a hotel in Tepoztlán for those who want to relax and rejuvenate in a serene setting.
The spa provides massage services, treatments (facials, exfoliation, etc.), yoga, and various spiritual activities such as purification ceremonies, which you can enjoy with your partner or friends.
You can also try the temazcal in the garden, which is a steam sauna that has been used for ritual and healing purposes since ancient times.
- Massages and treatments start from 850 pesos, temazcal costs 1900 pesos per couple (60-90 min), yoga and meditation are 300 pesos each
The restaurant of the hotel
The hotel is not in the center of Tepoztlán, so the on-site restaurant is very convenient.
Breakfast is included: coffee or tea, juice or fruit, with hot pastries, eggs or chilaquiles. I loved having my morning coffee in the garden.
You can also have lunch and dinner there with salads, soups, pizzas (not on the menu 😉), pastas, meats and desserts.
You can dine in the small restaurant with 4 tables, at one of the tables in the garden, by the pool, or order room service to eat on the balcony in peace.
- Open from 9 am to 9 pm
More information about the hotel
- Check in at 3 pm, check out at 12 pm (you can enjoy the restaurant and the garden while you wait)
- The rate per night can vary a lot depending on the day you choose, so if you have flexible dates, compare them by clicking here before you book. This applies to all hotels in Tepoztlán.
- Pet Friendly 🐶: up to 2 dogs (small to medium size) are welcome per room, 400 pesos per pet. My dog loved the place and she’s usually very picky.
- No children allowed.
My Opinion about Valle Místico Hotel
I have stayed at several hotels in Tepoztlán and this is one of my favorites.
It is pet friendly and for adults only, so it is not for families with children, but for me it was perfect for tranquility.
It is a small and cozy hotel, with rooms apart from each other, with a garden that gives a nice privacy, where you can relax, enjoy the pool, or read.
They have rooms for two people and suites for 4 or 6 people. I mostly saw couples, but also friends who came to refresh their energies and join a purification ceremony. I liked the diversity of the guests!
How to get to Valle Místico
It is better to have a car as the hotel is not in the center of Tepoztlán, but they can call a cab for you if you need one.
It takes between 1h30 and 2 hours to get to Tepoztlán from Mexico City, depending on the traffic. You can check the tolls with Traza tu Ruta.
If you use Waze, Maps or another app: once you are in Tepoztlán, make sure it guides you along Avenida Revolución and then Avenida Marino Sánchez.
The last part of the road to the Valle Mistico hotel is dirt/stone and in poor condition, so be careful with your car… my Kia got a bad bump under the car on the way.
Don’t follow your gps if it says Meztitla, Camino Real or Santo Domingo, because those are not the right roads and they are harder to drive on.
