My Selection of the Best Hotels in Punta de Mita
Personally, I chose Hotel Mesón de Mita for my stay in Punta de Mita because I was looking for an affordable hotel, on the beach, and with parking.
And that’s incredibly difficult to come across!
If you wish, you can book it directly by clicking here:
It’s worth noting that hotels in Punta de Mita are generally upscale. It’s the ideal destination to enjoy a beautiful boutique hotel, or an all-inclusive 4* or 5* hotel.
Beyond Hotel Mesón de Mita, I’ve compiled a list of my favorite hotels in Punta Mita catering to a range of budgets:
- Pacific Villa Punta Mita: a small hotel facing the beautiful Careyeros Beach offering rooms with kitchenette, pool terrace with ocean views, access to a communal kitchen.
It certainly provides one of the best value-for-money experiences in Punta Mita. starting at 120 $USD per night!
- Punta Mita Surf Lodge: beautiful apartments for 4 or 6 people, the perfect option if you’re traveling in a small group to Punta Mita!
Modern, very clean, comfortable, with a living room and full kitchen, access to the pool. Starting at 300 $USD per night!
- Hotel Basalto: for those desiring more luxury, here’s a charming, small hotel that delivers excellent value for money.
Perfect for couples, it features a private beach, a terrace with a pool that overlooks the ocean, and an on-site restaurant. Starting at 287 $USD per night!
- Iberostar Selection Playa Mita: this is the top choice for an all-inclusive hotel in Punta Mita, perfect for families with kids and couples too!
It’s a 5-star hotel where you can find tons of fun and comfort: 8 bars including one you can swim up to, 4 restaurants and a buffet, a fitness center, a library, a hair salon, tennis courts, golf, lots of water sports, live music at the bar, a nightclub, a theater with shows.
And of course, there’s a spa with a sauna, massages, and beauty treatments.
For the kids, there’s a club packed with fun activities (workshops, video games, cooking, movies, and more), a playground, and a water park with a pool.
Here, you’re guaranteed to have a blast, no matter how old you are!
- Imanta Resorts: This luxury hotel in Punta Mita serves as a private oasis of calm, set within a sprawling estate filled with lush greenery and featuring its own secluded beach.
Spacious suites that resemble small villas with stunning views of the surroundings, several with private pools, high-end service, and two restaurants, one of which is right on the beach.
With a jungle spa, the pre-Hispanic sauna known as temazcal, and trails for free exploration of the area: it’s the perfect spot for a romantic getaway!
- Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita: Considered the pinnacle of 5-star accommodations in Punta Mita, this hotel stands out as one of Mexico’s most luxurious destinations!
Situated in a 400-acre nature reserve on the Bahia de Banderas, this spot faces over a mile of gorgeous, private beaches ideal for swimming, and offers stunning views of the sunset.
The resort boasts a variety of bars and restaurants, including some beachside spots where you can dine with your toes in the sand.
It offers several swimming pools to suit every preference: the Tamai Pool, an adults-only retreat with a bar offering tasty cocktails and health-conscious meals; the Nuna Pool, an infinity pool with breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean; and for families, a fun Lazy River.
The hotel offers a variety of activities (yoga, aqua forza, spinning, boot camp, tennis, meditation, fishing), in addition to granting exclusive access to two of the world’s most prestigious private golf courses.
Lastly, the Apuane Spa provides treatments and massages with natural and local products.
My Experience at Mesón de Mita (Punta Mita)
For my trip to Punta Mita, securing a hotel with parking was essential, as my travels took me from Sayulita to Puerto Vallarta by car.
Despite the area’s reputation for luxurious and exclusive accommodations, my budget was limited. Meson de Mita stood out as the perfect balance between affordability and quality.
You can secure your reservation at Meson de Mita here:
The Room
Going for something practical, I picked a double-bed room meant for two – it’s the best deal they have.
There are also rooms for three people, with a single and a double bed, and even options for four, with two double beds.
The room has a patio door that leads out to a peaceful, shaded spot with sand and hammocks – just the place to unwind.
- It’s got everything you need for a comfy stay, like TV + Netflix and air conditioning. But honestly, with the cool breeze coming through the patio door, which comes with a mosquito net, I hardly needed the AC.
The shower’s great, giving you plenty of hot water.
But, the bathroom could do with a bit of an update, mainly because it doesn’t have good ventilation, so it stays pretty damp.
That’s why having the room cleaned every day is key. Normally, I don’t go for daily housekeeping at hotels to avoid unnecessary waste, but here, it felt essential.
The Pool
Situated just steps from the beach, the pool area boasts cleanliness and a welcoming water temperature.
While the number of sun loungers is limited, it wasn’t a problem during my three-day stay in Punta de Mita, as the pool area was rarely crowded.
It appears there were plans for a bar area adjacent to the pool, but as of my visit, no such service was available
The Beach
By descending the stairs behind the pool, you’ll find yourself on Anclote Beach, a serene spot nestled between Punta Mita’s pier and the lookout point.
Adjacent to the MITA restaurant, a few sun loungers are dotted along the sand (I’ll delve into the restaurant specifics shortly).
The beach itself is clean, well-kept, and offers stunning views of the bay and moored boats. However, swimming here can be challenging due to the rocky shoreline—a trait not uncommon in Punta Mita.
A short walk to the left leads to another expansive beach where swimming is effortlessly enjoyable.
The loungers’ quality leaves something to be desired, and the absence of beachside service means you’ll miss out on sipping a margarita or snacking on guacamole right on the sand, which is a personal favorite of mine.
Nevertheless, considering this is a budget-friendly option in Punta Mita, having direct access to the beach and loungers for guests feels like a slice of luxury.😉
The Restaurant
Located right alongside Hotel Meson de Mita, MITA restaurant operates independently, offering its own unique charm.
This cozy, oceanfront eatery captivates with its intimate atmosphere.
As with most dining options on Punta Mita’s main street, prices at MITA are on the higher side. However, you’re really paying for the breathtaking views and the top-notch service that accompanies your meal.
Upon our arrival, the first thing we did was head to the restaurant for a drink. We indulged in a huge piña colada and a margarita — the perfect start to our experience!
Parking Details
Parking at Meson de Mita is reserved exclusively for guests of the hotel.
While the parking lot isn’t particularly spacious, availability doesn’t seem to be an issue, as I consistently found a spot during my stay.
Although there’s a lack of shaded areas to protect cars from the sun—a feature that would be beneficial in such a sunny locale—the parking is unmonitored.
Despite this, the surrounding area feels quite secure.
Other Common Areas
Directly outside my room, near the reception, was a cozy corner featuring three hammocks. It’s a fantastic spot for unwinding in the shade and soaking in the peaceful atmosphere.
Adjacent to this area, you’ll find a semi-open lounge equipped with a table and chairs. It seems to be the preferred spot for anyone looking to get some work done on their laptop, likely because the Wi-Fi signal is stronger and more reliable close to the reception.
My Final Thoughts on the Hotel
This hotel delivers great value for its category. During my stay, I noticed several couples, but it strikes me as particularly ideal for families with children visiting Punta Mita.
Although the hotel doesn’t offer many services (no bar, activities, or complimentary breakfast), it does feature a clean pool and direct beach access with lounge chairs.
Given the general price range of hotels in the area, I find this to be a decent deal for those on a budget!
- One caveat: the Wi-Fi connection is weak, which is a common issue across Punta Mita, making it less suitable for those planning to work remotely.
Location-wise, it’s quite convenient. The hotel is situated on a street bustling with upscale restaurants, ATMs (accepting both pesos and dollars), tour operators, shops, and a pharmacy—essentially, everything you might need is right at your doorstep.
For those traveling by public transportation, its proximity to the Punta Mita bus stop, less than a 10-minute walk away, is a significant plus.
