My experience at Maxwell Residences at Indah (Puerto Vallarta)
After comparing the endless list of hotels in Puerto Vallarta, I chose to book at the Maxwell Residences for 3 reasons:
1-I needed a hotel with parking and the ones in the center of Vallarta (Zona Romantica, downtown area) did not have it, probably due to lack of space
2-Its location: Conchas Chinas Beach is both very peaceful, away from the noise of downtown Vallarta, and easily reachable on foot (by the beach or the road).
3-Its high-end facilities: starting with its amazing rooftop terrace (which alone would have been enough to persuade me to book), but also its gym, sauna, restaurant, etc.
Honestly, I was not looking for a luxury hotel in Puerto Vallarta at all, but I finally went for it!
The room
I booked the room with King Deluxe bed, which is the cheapest.
It is a spacious room with a very comfortable bed in which I enjoyed the air conditioning after a few days of sightseeing in the sun.
Sometimes the greatest joy, even on a trip, is lying in bed watching Netflix. 😄
The hotel is very quiet and every day I woke up to birdsong.
This room is in a section called “Casa Pedro”, a small house that has been completely renovated and annexed to the main building with a few rooms and its own patio.
- Facilities in my room: TV with Netflix, good wifi, fan and air conditioning, safe, coffee maker, mini fridge (empty) and bottled water – although I would suggest filling your bottle at the fountain in the gym 😉
The bathroom is large, extremely clean and well-finished, just like the rest of the hotel.
You can’t see it in my photo but the shower is very large.
The water flow and temperature work very well, and there are high-end products: shower gel, conditioner and shampoo with lavender and eucalyptus.
If I didn’t care about wasting water, I would have spent a long time enjoying it because the shower is really very nice.
A very basic breakfast was included, served in Casa Pedro’s patio, which is really nice with a small fountain.
There’s even an area with sofas right next to it, for more comfortable seating.
It is a self-service continental breakfast, very simple with fruit, cookies, croissants and coffee. Except for the fruit, I did not like their products. I really wonder who eats cookies in the morning?
But, fortunately, there are two other options:
-The coffee maker in the room comes with Starbucks capsules that makes very good coffee. You can make yourself a cup in the room and drink it on the patio.
-The rooftop terrace restaurant (which I talk about in detail later in the article) offers several breakfast options. They are not free, but they are very good and varied. And the view is exceptional.
The hotel facilities
The rooftop terrace
I was amazed as soon as the elevator doors opened and I reached the rooftop for the first time.
In front of me, the stunning infinity pool (with a perfect water temperature) with lounge chairs and umbrellas, to my left the bar and restaurant, and above all, this panoramic view of the entire bay of Puerto Vallarta, with its beaches, the boardwalk and the city.
It is undoubtedly the most beautiful terrace in Puerto Vallarta!
Besides, the terrace is reserved exclusively for the guests of Maxwell Residences, so it is never too crowded.
To access this amazing terrace, book the hotel here:
The restaurant
The restaurant is open from breakfast until dinner without interruption, making it the perfect place to start the day with a view, or watch the sunset with a cocktail.
For breakfast: fruit (120 pesos), pancakes or waffles (126 pesos), French toast (86 pesos), omelette (130 pesos), enchiladas (120 pesos), chilaquiles, eggs benedict, etc.
I recommend the “French omelette” with spinach, mushrooms, crispy bacon, potatoes and a delicious cheese sauce.
The coffee and green juice are also very good.
There is a lunch menu and a dinner menu, but I was told that you can order anything at any time, so there is plenty to choose from.
Salads of all kinds (130-250 pesos), ceviche (155 pesos), fish of the day (166 pesos), seafood, guacamole (132 pesos), pasta (from 100 pesos), hamburger, beef, chicken, lobster tail, etc.
For simpler options, there are also quesadillas, nachos, tacos, chips, chicken wings, etc.
As for alcohol, there are cocktails and wine.
I tried the paloma (120 pesos), a Mexican classic with tequila, lime and grapefruit juice, and a margarita (135 pesos) -or 2, 3, 4 margaritas, I can’t remember anymore-. Both were very good and refreshing.
I had them in the restaurant, in the shade, but you can also order them directly at the pool, as the bar is next to it.
And I must say that the service was really friendly, no matter who was serving us.
The gym
I was impressed by the size of the hotel’s gym. There is a great variety of machines, with free weights, and even a sauna.
Also, the two times I went there, it was empty, what a luxury!
There are also water bottles, towels and a water fountain for those who have a bottle to fill.
It is the most complete gym I have ever seen in a hotel.
The sauna is spacious and located to the left of the restrooms.
The restrooms are remarkably clean, as is the rest of the gym. There is also a shower and changing room.
It’s parking
I was looking for a hotel with parking included in Puerto Vallarta since we arrived by car from Sayulita and Punta Mita
- I don’t think it is really dangerous to leave the car on the street in the downtown areas, but as a precaution I always prefer to leave it in a secured parking lot.
The hotel parking lot is underground, so it is in the shade: this is important in Puerto Vallarta, where the sun is very strong!
It is a private parking lot with a very controlled access: from the inside you access by stairs or elevator, and from the outside you honk the horn for someone at the reception to open the door.
Other common areas
In addition to Casa Pedro’s rooftop terrace, gym and patio, there is a lobby with some comfortable seating.
There is also a space on the third floor that was not accessible when I visited. I don’t know if it was under renovation, so it was closed temporarily, or permanently.
It’s a pity. Because it has a bar, a pool, and a view that must be as beautiful as the rooftop. I hope it will be reopened soon.
My opinion about the hotel
Maxwell Residences at Indah really exceeded my expectations.
Its ideal location in Conchas Chinas and its spectacular rooftop quickly confirmed to me that I had made the right decision.
In my opinion, this is mainly an ideal hotel for a romantic stay in Puerto Vallarta, but I also saw several couples of friends, whether retired or in their 30s and 40s.
In addition to the standard rooms, they have several suites and apartments for 4, 6, 8 and even 10 people, with ocean view, private pool and balcony.
The wifi is very good.
How to get to Maxwell Residences?
Maxwell Residences at Indah (not to be confused with Maxwell Residences at Orchid, which is further away), is located here.
If you take a cab, you can tell the driver that you are going to Conchas Chinas. Once you reach the entrance from the main road, the hotel is on the left, down the road.
From the Puerto Vallarta airport, it takes about 30 minutes to get to the hotel. To get there, you can:
- Rent a car to have more freedom – Click here to compare cars!
- Take a cab from the airport
- Take a transfer by van to the hotel – Book your spot now! (choose Zone 3: South / Nuevo Vallarta)
From the Romantic Zone of Puerto Vallarta, it is very close!
For example, if we take Playa los Muertos as a reference, it takes 3 min by car, along the highway (Coastal Highway / Mexico 200) or 6-8 min walking along the beach. It is easy since there is a road in front of the sea.
If you have rented a car, I suggest that you leave it in the hotel parking lot if you plan to visit downtown Puerto Vallarta as it is very close. It will be much more comfortable.
And if you plan to explore the surrounding beaches (Majahuitas, Mismaloya, Los Arcos, etc.) which are on the opposite side of downtown Puerto Vallarta, everything is easily accessible by car along the Coastal Highway.
Rent a car in Puerto Vallarta
If you want to discover Puerto Vallarta and enjoy your trip to the fullest, the best option is to rent a car!
I always use Booking.com Cars to rent a car, and here are some reasons why:
- You can compare the prices of different rental agencies easily: it’s the simplest way to find the cheapest rate!
- You can cancel for free in most cases: you don’t have to worry if you change your plans
- Booking Cars offers full insurance coverage at a lower price than the rental companies, so you can save money and hassle
Find a cheap airline ticket to Puerto Vallarta
Puerto Vallarta’s Licenciado Gustavo Díaz Ordaz International Airport is a major airport that handles many flights from both within Mexico (such as Mexico City and Guadalajara, both 1h30 away) and abroad.
You can find direct flights to Puerto Vallarta from various places like Montreal, Toronto, London, Madrid and the United States. You can also check the prices of flights that stop in Mexico City.
